Vying to make inroads on the bursting UK indie scene, Hartlepool prospect Champ released their new single Future today (Friday, August 29).

The belt and braces four-piece, with cited influences The War on Drugs and Wunderhorse, Champ write anecdotally on a hazy background.

The band, formerly known as PARA ALTA, have spent two years writing music and are showing the world - first with Taste to Run, and now Future.

On the new single, frontman Jonny Bee explained: “‘Future’ is an ode to a lot of our friends and family from back home who spend their lives working away.

"Where we’re from, if you want to provide a comfortable life for the people closest to you you’ve typically got to sacrifice your own time to do that and leave your loved ones for weeks on end.

"This one’s a tune for anyone who’s ever chased a life they couldn’t quite touch, whilst trying not to forget themselves."

Champ play Middlesbrough, Manchester, Stockton and Hartlepool this autumn.
